  • An address you control
  • Correspondence kept separate
  • Eligible replies through your alias

Details & highlights

Mail gives you controlled CAIRL addresses with clear boundaries for receiving, reading and replying. MailGap is the available containment offering: message content stays inside CAIRL instead of being forwarded to your primary inbox.

MailGap allows eligible replies to messages received at an alias. It does not compose new messages to arbitrary recipients. Public alias communication is a separate planned offering and is not available.

Questions & answers

Answers from CAIRL’s documentation.

Does MailGap forward email to my primary inbox?

No. Message content stays inside CAIRL. Optional activity alerts are separate from forwarding.

Can I send a new email to anyone?

No. MailGap supports eligible replies to incoming messages, with recipient and sending controls.

Does MailGap make me anonymous?

No. It separates correspondence from your primary inbox. Personal information in a reply can still identify you.

What happens when I burn an alias?

The alias is permanently disabled and its stored message details disappear from your view. Stored-file cleanup follows the documented retention process.

What you need

A signed-in CAIRL account

MailGap must be enabled for your account.

Shared Vault allowance

Stored messages consume the same allowance as your documents and images.

An eligible incoming exchange

Replying requires an eligible received message and passes sending controls.

Use together

Documents and correspondence, kept together

Keep documents in Vault and service correspondence in MailGap. Both use the same platform storage allowance.

A service combination, not a paid bundle. Each service retains its own pricing and availability.
